At the present time he is the Fire Chief in Owatonna, MN and is the President of the Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association for 1996 and 1997. Jerry and Jackie enjoy camping weekends during camping season at the Greenwood Campground at Hastings where they have their fifth wheel camper. Jackie does counted cross-stitch and Jerry relaxes while camping. They enjoy spending time with their 2 granddaughters who live nearby. Gilbert Melvin Rosendahl was born 22 Jul 1898 in Glenwood Twp., Winneshiek Co., the son of Christian O. and Hansina (Nesseth) Rosendahl. Christian was born 29 Mar 1861 in Hadeland, Norway and came to the U.S. in 1874. Hansina was born 5 Mar 1871 in Glenwood Twp. Christian and Hansina were married 26 Sep 1888. Gilbert’s brothers and sisters were: Stella Caroline (m. Jens Rasmussen); Olga Elena (m. Julius Rude); Alfred Benjamin (m. Caroline Sorenson 1st, Violet Loven 2nd); and Lawrence William Arthur (m. Idella Olson). Gilbert was baptized and confirmed at the Glenwood Lutheran Church and attended rural school. He was married to Pearl Henrietta Brynsaas 30 Nov 1921 at the Glenwood Lutheran Church by Rev. Skarve. Pearl was born 9 May 1901 in Glenwood Twp. to Hans and Karen (Erickson ) Brynsaas. She had 6 brothers and sisters: Emma (m. Ned Brown); Arthur (m. Alma Sorenson); Henry (m. Mildred Ames); Edwin (m. Leona Borseth)(; Nina (m. Durward Borseth); and Norman (m. Mae Rasmussen). Pearl and Gilbert had 3 children: Charles Horace (m. Martha Rohm); Merlin Phillip (m. Elsie Moen); and Hazel Catherine (m. Howard Gullickson). Gilbert worked as a farm hand until renting his father’s farm in 1919 for $300.00 a year. He later bought the farm from his father. It was located below the upper dam. In 1946 he sold this farm and purchased a farm two miles south of Burr Oak. Gilbert was a great lover of horses and did some horse trading as well as training. Pearl died 18 Aug 1967 in a boating accident. Gilbert is living at Aase Haugen Home at the present time. Rosendahl, Harold and Marlys (Barth)(Elsie Rosendahl) Harold Lester Rosendahl was born in Decorah, IA to Merlin Phillip and Elsie Lavonne (Moen) Rosendahl. Merlin was born in Glenwood Twp., Winneshiek Co,, near Decorah and Elsie was born in Decorah. Merlin and Elsie were married 21 Apr 1946 at the First Lutheran Church, Decorah by Dr. T A. Hoff. Harold's brothers and sister are: Gerald Phillip; Marc Wayne and Merlene Marie, all born at Decorah. Harold married Marlys Diane Barth, born 31 Aug 1951 to Galin David and Wilma Annette (Hovey) Barth. Galin was born 11 Nov 1921 in Canoe Twp., Winneshiek Co. and Wilma was born in Orleans Twp., Winneshiek Co. Galin and Wilma were married 10 Jun 1945 at Orleans Lutheran Church, Ridgeway, IA by Pastor Sorenson. Harold and Marlys were married 15 Apr 1972 at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church, Burr Oak, IA by Pastor Charles Schultz from the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, IA. Their children are: Kari Lea; Jodi Sara; Derek Harold; and Todd Jared, all born at the Caledonia, MN hospital. Kari Lea was married 22 Jul 1995 to Roger Robert Ferrie at the First Lutheran Church, Cresco, IA.
